This afternoon's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Chelmsford City and Bangor.
"Frankie Dettori rides Blue Geranium for John Godsen, a combination which usually strikes fear into the layers, but the weight of money moving against this one suggests that all may not be so assured."
Our lay bet of the day is Blue Geranium which runs in the 15:20 6f Maiden Stakes at Chelmsford City and has drifted from 2.6413/8 to 3.45. Frankie Dettori rides for John Godsen, a combination which usually strikes fear into the layers, but the weight of money moving against this one suggests that all may not be so assured. Daring Day and perhaps even Kindly may cause an upset.
The back bet of the day is Desertmore Hill which has come in from 9.08/1 to 4.1 and runs in the 15:40 2m3f Handicap Hurdle at Bangor. His record is far from reassuring but with ground now more suited and on a slightly lower weight we are intrigued by the very sharp price movement and prefer him to what will probably be main rival, Marley Joe. Wayne Hutchison is aboard for the Paul Morgan yard.
Finally our each-way back bet is Never Say which runs in the 16:20 1m2f Handicap at Chelmsford City and has come in from 17.016/1 to 9.08/1. Still a maiden, the price has come in substantially and an each-way back bet could prove rewarding for this Rob Hornby-ridden, Jason Ward-trained hopeful which has had a decent series of place finishes.
Lay Blue Geranium @ 3.45 in the 15:20 at Chelmsford City
Back Desertmore Hill @ 4.1 in the 15:40 at Bangor
