Today's follow the Money comes from this afternoons meetings at Lingfield and Carlisle...
We start with our each-way selection in the 14:30 Carlisle, a 2m1f Handicap Hurdle. The Peter Winks-trained Hartside has come for warm support and has been backed overnight from 14.013/1 in to 7.613/2. The son of Montjeu has been disappointing since showing promise around the turn of the year but has fallen to an attractable mark of 109. With drier ground conditions to suit today in what looks a weaker race we fancy the eight-year-old gelding to recapture some of his old form which should see him in the shakeup.
Our back selection comes in the 17:05 Lingfield, a 2m4f Hunter Chase. A competitive race with former Grand National and 15-year-old Veteran Big Fella Thanks heading the market. One that has come in for warm support is Man of Steel backed in from 6.05/1 in to 4.10. The Alan Hill-trained eight-year-old has a fine record in Hunter Chases and should shape better for making his seasonal reappearance where he was pulled up when sent off a warm favourite. Punters are willing to forgive him that run and we recommend backing Man of Steel at 4.10 or better.
Our lay selection comes in the 17:15 Carlisle, a 2m bumper race. The Warren Greatrex unraced bumper horse Flemenskill has taken a walk in the market and has drifted from 2.97 to 3.814/5 and it if the market is anything to go by this five year old will need the run. As bumper races go this looks a quality one with market support coming for Fin and Game and Point of Principle. We see this drift continuing and recommend laying Flemenskill at 3.814/5.
