We commence at Bath where Spring Jig has been a significant drifter on our market in the 15:40, which has seen his price recede from an early 2.0421/20 out to 2.68/5. We feel it is worth taking on the Hugo Palmer-trained maiden today as he is up against two promising sorts who both look as if the 10 furlong trip will suit. Atkinson Grimshaw, who has been well backed to improve on his debut run where he ran a bit green and was allowed to come home in his own time, and Jive Talking, also well supported this morning who ran well on his debut only to disappoint on the all-weather at Newcastle, we expect the return to turf should see an improved run from the Michael Bell juvenile. With such dangerous opponents we recommend a lay bet on Spring Jig.

Moving on to Hamilton we notice there has been a considerable weight of money on Dark Crystal in the 16:20 which has forced his price into 7.413/2 from an opening 16.015/1. The five-year-old mare demonstrated her love for soft going when she won twice in a week at Ayr in July and her subsequent defeats have all been on firmer ground. She ran well here on Saturday, finishing third in a competitive handicap over today's trip and we feel with the underfoot conditions in her favour she should make a bold bid in this afternoon's contest.

For our each-way selection we have gone for Aramadyh in the 16:30 at Newton Abbot who has been nibbled at in the market from 17.5 in to 9.28/1. The Jimmy Frost-trained grey mare has been lightly raced over hurdles and showed some glimmer of form last time out for his new trainer on this track last month. She seems to be on a handy mark today in a race that possibly won't take much winning. We fully expect Aramdyh to a least reach a place this afternoon, so an each-way bet is the call.
