Today's Follow The Money is focusing on the Tuesday afternoon action at Ayr...
Kicking off with our each-way selection, in the 14:20 a handicap hurdle over two and a half miles, where Cruachan has been backed in from 18.5 to 11.010/1, a good weight of money considering the 17 runners. Lucy Noemile's gelding hasn't been in the best of form of late and runs of a mark of 96 today, six pounds lower than his last win. If the selection runs to the form where he wasn't beaten far here in November he should be in the shake-up and give us a run for our money at a decent price.
On to the 16:40 where Yes Tom has drifted out from 3.185/40 to 4.03/1 for the win, and 1.768/11 to 2.0421/20 for the place market, which is where we're recommending a lay with only two places on offer. He is not the most fluent of jumpers which will work in our favour in this competitive race, while the rest of the field have been backed in the market. If he runs up to his effort last time over hurdles or his run in this race last year - where he won off a two pound lower mark - he will challenge, but hopefully the inconsistent Yes Tom will rear his ugly head again.
Our back bet runs in the 17:10, where Al Reesha has been backed from a high of 6.05/1 all the way into 3.211/5, and is challenging for favouritism. The form of his last race, where he came fifth, has worked out well. The horse in fourth, Mr Fenton, was only beaten by eight-and-a-quarter lengths by Positively Dylan, the latter of whom was only beaten by nine lengths by Cheltenham bumper favourite Ballyandy at Newbury on Saturday. This looks an easier task and we expect Al Reesha to score today.
