Today's Follow The Money column comes from this afternoon's meetings at Ayr, Galway and Redcar.
"Salsa Sensation will likely provide the toughest competition to Captain Van Trappe but weight of money and a decent chase debut suggests Gordon Elliott's runner should do the business."
Our lay of the day is Double Ws which has gone out from [2.54] to [3.1] in betting on the 13:40 2m Novice Hurdle at Ayr. Double Ws does have hurdles experience and has a reasonable record from bumpers but we believe this Brian Hughes-ridden, Malcolm Jefferson-trained prospect will find Imada in particular too tough to beat.
Our first back selection comes from Galway in the 13:55 2m6f Beginners Chase where Captain Von Trappe has come in from [ 2.94] to [2.06]. Salsa Sensation will likely provide the toughest competition but weight of money and a decent chase debut suggests Gordon Elliott's runner should do the business.
The second back selection is Soldier In Action which has come in from [3.0] to [2.4] ahead of a run in the 14:05 1m1f Maiden Stakes at Redcar. Soldier In Action has a decent pedigree and came a good second at Musselburgh on what was his racecourse debut. This distance is a furlong longer than last time out and we feel this will suit this Paul Mulrennan-ridden, Mark Johnston-trained horse in what is a fairly modest field.
Lay Double Ws @ [3.1] in the 13:40 at Ayr
Back Captain Van Trappe @ [2.06] in the 13:55 at Galway
Back Soldier In Action @ [2.4] in the 14:05 at Redcar
