- Back Summer Icon each-way @ 7.413/2 Ascot 14:45
- Back Pivotman win @ 3.953/1 Pontefract 15:10
- Lay Place Flying Officer @ 1.654/6 Ascot 15:20

Firstly we head to Ascot for our each-way selection. Summer Icon, in the 14:45 has been supported all morning from 11.521/2 in to 7.413/2 and the market confidence suggests he will run a big race today, although the Mick Channon-trained filly is still a maiden, she ran a good race at the Newmarket Craven meeting over seven furlongs, running on well at the end to grab second place in a competitive heat. Today's trip of a mile should suit our selection and with that run under her belt she should strip a lot fitter; we fully expect her to reach the frame this afternoon.

Over to Pontefract for our win bet of the day. Pivotman, in the 15:10 race has been a warm order to take this tricky handicap, which has seen his price contract from 6.25/1 in to 3.953/1. The Mick Easterby-trained eight-year-old made his seasonal debut on this track earlier in the month, always going well and looking the likely winner, he was headed inside the final furlong and despite a late rally, finished runner up. He should come on a lot for that effort and we are confident he will go one better this afternoon.

We return to Ascot for our negative selection. In the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes (15:20), Flying Officer has been rather uneasy in the market which has seen him drift from an early 3.55/2 out to [4.4.] This will be his seasonal debut today and although he ended last year with a hat-trick of wins, we feel he will struggle to reach the frame this afternoon. One of his main rivals today is Clever Cookie who is five pounds better off from their last meeting and we expect him to gain revenge, especially as he has already had a pipe-opener this year. Also in opposition is Mizzou, who won this race last year and the improving Burmese, who will love this two mile trip. With such a strong looking bunch of rivals up against Flying Officer we recommend a place lay.
