Back Meritocracy @ 4.47/2 in the 14:40 at Lingfield
Lay Bertie Blu Boy @ 2.89/5 in the 16:10 at Lingfield
Back Middle England @ 9.08/1 in the 16:30 at Leicester

We start off in the 14:40 at Lingfield where the Paul Cole-trained Meritocracy has been well supported from 6.411/2 in to a current 4.47/2. A mark of 80 certainly seems workable given his previous form and despite that mark giving him joint top weight, punters seem keen to latch on. He travelled well for a long way last time out at Windsor when tiring late on to finish third, so the drop in trip today to five furlongs should suit. Cheekpieces have been reapplied to aid his concentration and with the yard in good order all the signs seem to point to a positive outcome today.

Today's lay selection races in the 16:10 at Lingfield and it is Bertie Blu Boy who is an uneasy favourite, drifting from an opening 2.43 out to 2.89/5. A six-time course winner, he is running in tremendous form at present. That form however has caused his mark to increase to 69 which is just a pound shy of his career high. That will demand a lot more from this likable front runner and to win this trappy looking contest he would likely need a career best effort. Every runner in the race looks to have good claims and in a race as competitive as this seems, it looks like 2.89/5 could be a value lay.

Finally we head over to Leicester for their 16:30 and Middle England has been well supported at attractive odds, her mark shortening from 16.015/1 in to 9.08/1. She built on a promising debut run to land a maiden at Lingfield in good style in late January. That was followed up by a lesser effort at Wolverhampton on her handicap debut however, but she has been off the track since and market vibes are very positive. Charlie Appleby is still in good form and it may be that the new surface will bring about improvement from this three year old filly. A chance is taken then at a large price that the market support is a significant sign of her chance today.
