Follow The Money: Huge market move on Coolbeg is hard to ignore

Two picks from Ayr today for FTM
Two picks from Ayr today for FTM

Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Chepstow and Ayr...

Recommended Bets:

Back Coolbeg @ 6.05/1 in the 16:50 at Chepstow

Back Hanalei Bay @ 7.06/1 in the 17:30 at Ayr

Lay Kiss of Spring @ 3.8514/5 in the 18:00 at Ayr

Starting at Chepstow in the 16:50, where Coolbeg has moved in significantly to 6.05/1 from an early high of 11.521/2. The eight-year-old is having his first handicap run over hurdles for his new yard having been mainly chasing, where he won only once out of 19 starts, but that victory was over this two-mile trip. In addition, he does go well fresh and is now on a career low mark. With everything else seemingly drifting, including the favourite, Powerful Action, who has fitness doubts, we're trusting the market's knowledge in recommending backing Coolbeg in what seems a pretty open race.

Over to Ayr for the 17:30 1m Betfair Scottish Racing Mile Series Final Handicap where top weight Hanalei Bay has come in for early support, strengthening from 12.08 in to a current 7.06/1. He was a little keen last time but still ran well to finish fewer than five lengths behind the winner in a competitive handicap over this course and distance. Previously he won well for the third time this year making all over this distance at Hamilton. There are reasons to oppose some of his nearest challengers today with Lil Sophella and Funding Deficit both running under 6lb penalties. Bahamian C has not got the best of draws and Gambino is now ridden by an apprentice jockey after trainer John Riches was disappointed with the ride Luke Harvey gave him last time out at Doncaster. All this hopefully points to Hanalei Bay continuing his good season by taking the honours here.

Staying at Ayr for the 18:00 1m Hcap where David O'Meara's Kiss of Spring has been drifting in the market from 2.8815/8 out to 3.8514/5. Although running well in maidens without getting her nose in front this is her handicap debut and she's stepping back up to a mile. We feel there may be one or two in front of her today having seen good early money for Alan Berry's Smile for Me and Mick Channon's Jersey Brown, the latter being unlucky not to win last time and fancied to open her account. With this in mind we will be taking on Kiss of Spring today.
