Today's selections come from The Curragh which includes this year's Irish 1000 Guineas race at 15:40.
We start with the 15:05 in which Backbench Blues has been backed in from 4.84/1 to 3.72. Looking to make it four on the trot this Mrs Harrington trained son of Big Bad Bob is said to appreciate the quicker ground so will be looking to progress from his most recent win in Navan over Good to Yielding. This three-year-old colt seem to be a progressive type and the step up in trip to 1m4f is said to suit and the booking of Jamie Moore for the ride suggests that connections have big plans.
The Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh takes place at 15:40 and there has been a positive market move for La Collina. Conditions are very different today compared to at Newmarket three weeks ago with the ground quickening up all the time. Kevin Prendergast trained La Collina shaped well at Newmarket and should improve significantly in these conditions. She beat O'Brien trained Power here last summer and the market move from 6.25/1 to 5.69/2 suggests she could halt the O'Brien yards dominance.
In the 17:20, Taigan has performed negatively on the exchange moving from 2.245/4 out to 3.185/40. This 3yo colt hasn't performed to date and is within a big field today stepping back up in trip over 1m2f and is to be fitted with blinkers. The two impeccably bred - Sheik Mohammed owned - colts Hay Point and Blue Corner look more favourable and have been more positive on the exchange this morning.
