Exeter Placepot: Tuesday March 31

Today's Placepot attempt comes from Exeter
Today's Placepot attempt comes from Exeter

Exeter provides the pick of Tuesday's action and that is where we head for today's attempt at the Placepot...

"Tom Scudamore won for these connections in a claimer earlier in the month, so his booking catches the eye today and he is taken to be in the places at least here."

14:00 - Rocky Rebel ran respectably on his reappearance on the flat last time out and although he is a maiden over hurdles, he ran well in a similar event to this in summer 2013 and the form of that race has worked out well since. Tom Scudamore won for these connections in a claimer earlier in the month, so his booking catches the eye today and he is taken to be in the places at least here. Artisan is another horse who has been mainly plying his trade on the all weather, he has shown fair hurdles form in the past though, including placing off a mark of 110 for Brian Ellison in 2012, and if he can get near to reproducing that form then he has a chance in this.

14:35 - With Risk A Fine looking like a horse to avoid, current market leader Sinndar's Man is the one to be with back on better ground and with the step up in trip expected to suit. The Tim Vaughan yard was in poor form when we last saw Hawkhill in action and he is expected to put his two lackluster appearances this season behind him after being freshened up by a short break. As a winner off this mark in 2013 he is handicapped to go close if back to his best and Alan Johns' useful 7lb claim reinforces his chances.

15:05 - A very open race where no horse can be readily dismissed. One that appeals slightly more as a chasing prospect though is Colin Tizzard's Fourth Act, who has a fair looking mark based on some of his hurdling performances if he is able to excel in this new sphere.

15:40 - On Trend has attracted support on both his last two outings and he remains well handicapped on select pieces of form, including when winning over C&D on his only visit here last year from a 4lb higher mark than this. He has only posted one run near that level this season (Sandown in January) but could be worth persisting with back at this track. Royal Native is well in on his hurdles form and likes it here at Exeter, he is a big danger if putting it together on the third time of asking over fences.

16:10 - Young Cheddar didn't quite get home in testing conditions over three miles last time out, and a combination of the better ground and the slightly shorter trip could see her bounce back, especially considering how well the form from her Plumpton run seems to be working out. Free of Charge has a lot to find from this mark based on his most recent three outings stepped markedly up in trip, but he may have been slightly forgotten about in the market as a result. He will face conditions similar to when he recorded his best run (second at this course over 17 furlongs) while his pedigree offers some hope of this trip being suitable.

16:45 - Celestino looks the answer after a creditable performance in a much hotter race from 5lb out of the handicap last time out, he has placed from this mark previously and should go close with the drop in trip expected to suit.
