"...he gets the nod ahead of the tough and consistent El Astronaute."

Timeform on Global Applause

13:50 - The most appealing of these is KHAADEM (4), who looked a pattern-class colt in the making when opening his account at Newmarket. His entries in the Mill Reef and Middle Park are hints at how highly he's throught of, and considering Jim Crowley's record on favourites, he gets a confident vote to win again. Converter may also go on to make his mark at a higher level if building on the promise of his Nottingham debut success, while Alfie Solomons needs considering on the back of a string of solid efforts in defeat.

14:25 - The step up to 7f should suit FANAAR (3), who wasn't seen to best effect when tried in blinkers at York and makes plenty of appeal off a potentially lenient mark now pitched into a nursery. Indeed, an entry in the Dewhurst suggests that connections still have high hopes for the Dark Angel colt. Concello remains open to improvement and is next best ahead of the consistent Greenback Boogie.

15:00 - GLOBAL APPLAUSE (5) is yet another sprinter to benefit from the Robert Cowell treatment judged on his smooth success at Sandown, beating a subsequent winner in the process. On that evidence, venturing back into listed company may well prove fruitful and he gets the nod ahead of the tough and consistent El Astronaute. Final Venture, Under The Covers and the 2-y-o Sunsprite are all each-way possibles.

15:35 - CHEEKY RASCAL (13) is 0-15 but could take some catching if, as expected, plenty of use is made of him back down in trip here with Timmy Murphy doing the steering. Zeshov is an obvious threat on the back of his clear-cut victory at Musselburgh, while Placebo Effect should also make his presence felt and the consistent Lady Alavesa is in with an each-way shout, too.

16:05 - SPIRIT OF APPIN (8) took another step forward when making a winning handicap debut at Ffos Las and, with further progress likely now faced with a stiffer test, she is taken to complete the hat-trick. Crystal Hope was a shade disappointing back from a break at Salisbury, but her form prior to that looks solid and she is feared most ahead of Thimbleweed and last year's winner What A Home.

16:40 - EUGINIO (3) landed a similar small-field minor event at this meeting 12 months ago and can repeat the dose this time round. His tactical versatility will stand him in good stead in the absence of a confirmed front-runner. Emirates Flyer is preferred to the penalised Afaak for forecast purposes.

17:15 - ACCLAIM THE NATION (6) was a costly loser at Chester when last seen in June, but he was in good form prior to that and is taken to resume winning ways back on a more galloping track. Fellow C&D winner Sheepscar Lad looks dangerous, while Foxy Forever is lurking on a workable mark, and, despite a 12-month lay-off, Saaheq needs a second look in the betting on debut for Michael Appleby.
