Yarmouth Placepot: Tuesday September 15

Tuesday's Placepot comes from Yarmouth

A good standard of racing at Yarmouth means we head there for the Placepot on Tuesday.

"Sprint minor events are rarely the right sort of place to push ‘all in’, so Music Master is left out, especially after the bitty, disappointing season he’s had."

14:20 - With regards to long-term potential, Field of Stars deserves to be closer to odds-on favourite Fourth Way than she is. However, the greenness she showed on debut and the fact she's been given almost seven weeks off since suggests connections may be taking their time with her, so the favourite, who shaped so well over C&D little over a fortnight ago, is chosen.

14:50 - Curtago is all the rage in the betting after his successful nursery debut (carries a penalty here), but there's just as strong a case to be made for Recognition. This is his first start in nurseries, and a mark of 69 understates his form, let alone his potential and breeding. Recognition has also looked pretty straightforward so far, including at Goodwood and Epsom, which is a nice kicker.

15:20 - Farsakh and Napoleon Solo dominate the betting, and with the latter being the only one of the two to boast racecourse experience, he is the obvious choice. He makes particular appeal back at six furlongs, that in tune with both his pedigree and how he's shaped so far.

15:50 - Another favourite, but you couldn't find a much better set-up than is presented for Sealife here. She's been relentlessly progressive since making her debut in early-July and finds herself well clear on Timeform ratings in this five-runner event. She should be in the first two.

16:20 - Sprint minor events are rarely the right sort of place to push 'all in', so Music Master is left out, especially after the bitty, disappointing season he's had. Take Basil Berry and Barracuda Boy instead, the former being fairly consistent and the latter suited to these types of races (bad runs have tended to be in big-field handicaps).

16:50 - A trappy little sprint handicap rounds off the Placepot. Emjayem is hard to get away from, fairly unexposed and putting up a career-best last time, which he might even come on for. Back him up with Desert Command, who possibly needed the outing on his debut for Robert Cowell last time and remains on a workable mark.
