Windsor Placepot: Monday June 23

Racing comes from Windsor on Monday

A competitive Monday evening card at Windsor looks the best bet for landing the Placepot this evening...

"Epsom Art is bred to stay this trip, has a visor applied for his handicap bow and it would be no surprise to see him take a significant step up on what he’s shown so far..."

18:40 - We kick off proceedings with a six-furlong maiden and the first to get the nod is Arthur Martinleake, who should improve from his recent third at Ripon, for all that this looks a stronger race. The other to keep on side is Guilty, who despite finishing fifth on his debut at Bath went off a short enough price to suggest he has some potential.

19:10 - It's another maiden under consideration next, this time for three-year-olds over an extended mile, and Principle Equation is the first selection. He's bumped into a couple of useful rivals on both of his starts to date and he looks likely to make the frame at the very least, with Certificate another who can take advantage of a race lacking in depth with the step up in trip this evening sure to suit.

19:40 - A sole selection will suffice in the handicap which follows in the shape of Dullingham, who was denied at a crucial stage at Doncaster last time and should prove himself well-handicapped off a mark of 84 if granted a clear passage.

20:10 - It's a six furlong handicap up next and given that Polybius looked a decidedly useful prospect when bolting up in a C&D maiden, he should prove significantly better than his opening mark and will certainly be involved in the finish. The other to make the cut is Meritocracy, who turned in his best effort so far this season off his current mark of 85 at Goodwood ten days ago and will be dangerous if he can build on it.

20:40 - It's another sole selection in the ten-furlong handicap which makes up the penultimate leg of today's perm, and whilst Panettone looks well-handicapped if she's primed on her reappearance, Stockhill Diva is race fit and in form. She won readily at Bath last time and given she's lightly raced for a four-year-old she looks likely to improve further.

21:10 - Despite there only being a small field for this handicap over an extended 11 furlongs, it's nonetheless a competitive contest. Cosette has mate a sound start to the season and looks a sure to go close, but Epsom Art is bred to stay this trip and has a visor applied for his handicap bow; it would be no surprise to see him take a significant step up on what he's shown so far.
