Towcester Placepot: Thursday December 18

Racing comes from Towcester on Thursday
Racing comes from Towcester on Thursday

We head to Towcester for a low-stakes perm on Thursday as we aim for Placepot glory...

"Vinnieslittle Lamb won over shorter here last time but looks to be in good form of late..."

12:40 - We kick off proceedings with a maiden hurdle over two miles and the first to get the nod is Dusky Legend. She has already won a bumper this autumn for Alan King and it seems likely she will prove the best of today's field too. Quinlandio arrives with a fair level of form to his name and is the other to get the nod in the hope he goes well.

13:10 - A sole selection will suffice in the novices' handicap chase over 21 furlongs which follows in the shape of Mudita Moment. It is a rather late switch to fences all things considered but he does have point form to his name from his younger days and has conditions to suit on his return to action.

13:40 - Kincora Fort looks the way to go in the novices' hurdle over the same trip which comes next. He went close several times in bumpers and lost little caste in defeat behind Monbeg Theatre here last month. Today's contest looks a weaker one and he should run well at the very least.

14:10 - It's hard to oppose Ben Pauling's horses at the moment and for that reason Newton Thistle is trusted to keep the perm alive in the staying handicap chase over an extended three miles. He has an absence to overcome but has a featherweight on his back and if he is fit and firing should be in the money at the very least.

14:40 - The majority of the field for the staying handicap hurdle which comes under consideration next look badly handicapped. Narrow preference is given to Ifyouthinkso and Toot Sweet. The former ought to be competitive in this grade if ready to go off an eight-month break, and the latter is unexposed in this context providing her jumping holds up.

15:10 - The final leg of today's perm is another handicap chase, this time over an extended 19 furlongs and given that I Know The Code has pretty low-mileage over fences and has had a comeback run over C&D under his belt, he is the first to get the nod. Vinnieslittle Lamb won over shorter here last time but looks to be in good form of late and providing he is in the same frame of mind should defy top weight to run well again.

Recommended Perm:

12:40 - 14,9
13:10 - 1
13:40 - 3
14:10 - 9
14:40 - 1,3
15:10 - 1,6
