We head to Towcester on Sunday for a low-stakes perm in our never-ending quest for Placepot glory...
"If American Life is in the same form as in recent times he should win given he has optimum conditions and only gets a 3 lb rise for his latest success..."
12:45 - It's a two-mile novices' hurdle to kick things off and Ballyhollow is the first to get the nod. He has the best bumper form and won't have to step up much on last month's hurdling debut to be in the frame here. Quiet Candid is the next to make the cut in the hope a hood helps her to calm down and apply her considerable ability with more efficiency.
13:15 - Le Grand Chene is a sole selection in the handicap chase over an extended 19 furlongs which follows. He isn't the most consistent but none in this field are, and the selection at least arrives at the top of his game at a track which suits him well.
13:45 - It will be another single selection in the selling hurdle over the minimum trip which comes next in the shape of Formal Bid. He never got competitive over fences but the return to the smaller obstacles will suit him and he looks capable of being in the frame of a race which won't take much winning.
14:15 - Up next is a handicap chase over an extended three miles and given that Union Jack d'Ycy is on a handy mark and should come on for a respectable return to action last week, there is no need to waste any more lines. He is a banker to keep the perm alive.
14:45 - The handicap hurdle over three miles which comes next will revolve around the hat-trick seeking American Life. If he is in the same form as in recent times he should win given he has optimum conditions and only gets a 3 lb rise for his latest success. He should be kept on side, as should Chavoy on the chance that he is fit and firing on his return to action, as on the pick of his form he looks very competitive despite shouldering top weight.
15:15 - The final leg of today's perm is a handicap chase over an extended two miles and The Informant is the selection in the hope he can recover his form from the first part of 2014. If that's the case and if he improves his jumping from Fontwell last time, he will make the frame at the very least and could win impressively.
