We head to a decent jumps card at Catterick for Tuesday's attempt to scoop the Placepot...
"Safari Journey is on a handy mark based on the pick of his form and with a recent hurdles run under his belt, it is hoped he can put his best foot forward..."
12:10 - We kick off proceedings with an amateur riders handicap chase over 19 furlongs and Some Lad is the first to make the cut. He looks in better form than most who line up here and it's hoped he can continue in that vein to run well. Pegasus Walk, who caught the eye on his handicap debut at Musselburgh last time, is also likely to be involved in the finish and is another selection.
12:40 - There is a big field for the juvenile hurdle which follows but not many appeal as likely winners. Useful Flat recruit New Street is one of the few exceptions, and he should be capable of making a bold bid on his first start in this sphere under Tony McCoy. Irish winner Celtic Artisan is the other who gives cause for optimism, in the hope he defies a penalty to run well again.
13:10 - A single selection will suffice in the two-mile handicap chase which follows and Safari Journey is the one for our money. He is on a handy mark based on the pick of his form and with a recent hurdles run under his belt, it is hoped he can put his best foot forward and keep the perm alive.
13:40 - Jack's Last Hope escapes a penalty having landed the odds in a weak event at Sedgefield last month and as a result can't ignored in the 19-furlong novices' hurdle which comes next. Chieftain's Choice probably boasts the best bumper form in the field today and has made a sound start to life over hurdles, and is the other one to get the nod.
14:10 - It will be another sole selection in the staying handicap hurdle over an extended 25 furlongs up next. Although Bourne is seriously well handicapped nowadays he is hardly a solid proposition. Preference is for Another Dimension, who found only a couple of subsequent winners too strong at Musselburgh last time, in what looks a weaker contest.
14:40 - Providing the perm is still intact at this point our hopes of profit will lay with If In Doubt. His form is way above that of today's opponents over hurdles and fences, and he is expected to win handsomely.
