We head to Betfair Chase day at Haydock to try and scoop the Placepot on Saturday...
"Morito du Berlais is the other who looks likely to run well, given his impressive victory at Cheltenham last time suggested he could easily defy another rise from the handicapper..."
12:10 - We kick off with a handicap hurdle over two miles and the first to keep on side is Moujik Borget. He won a similar contest off this mark on his reappearance last season and if he is fit and firing again today should go close. Lightening Rod is thriving at the moment and has some solid form in the book already this season, so is the other to make the cut in the hope he continues his fine run of form.
12:45 - It's a handicap chase over 29 furlongs up next and in these conditions it will take some getting. Bennys Well was only raised 4 lb for his Carlisle success a fortnight ago and after a consistent campaign last season it's hoped he can continue in that vein. Gas Line Boy is the other to make the cut in the hope his jumping improves, as he still remains unexposed on his current mark.
13:15 - The handicap hurdle over two-and-a-half miles which follows looks a cracker. On Tour looks highly progressive and he is taken to record another victory here, so should be included in the perm. Morito du Berlais is the other who looks likely to run well, given his impressive victory at Cheltenham last time suggested he could easily defy another rise from the handicapper.
13:50 - It's the inaugural running of the Betfair Price Rush Hurdle now and a sole selection will suffice in the shape of The New One. In short he is the best horse here by a mile and even though conditions aren't ideal should justify his short odds in style.
14:25 - Under consideration next is the Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle over three miles and as always it is fiercely competitive. Volnay de Thaix is an exciting prospect but it is not certain he will benefit from the stiffer test today. Conversely, Aubusson shaped as if he would relish it when runner-up at Chepstow last time and should be kept on side as a result. Big Easy will also enjoy today's test of stamina and is the other to get the nod.
15:00 - The final leg of today's perm is the Grade 1 Betfair Chase and providing the perm is still alive at this stage we will rely on a single horse to carry us to glory in the shape of Silvinaco Conti. He encounters ideal conditions, has the benefit of a prep run this time around and should be primed for the big day by Paul Nicholls. He can confirm the King George form and add another Betfair Chase title to his handler's tally.
