There are some interesting handicaps at Wolverhampton this evening

Timeform take you through the evening card at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

17:45- Alshaqee and Lydiate are the two standard setters in this maiden, and there seems to be little betting potential in their respective prices, with them heading the market at present. Alshaque has progressed with all three of his starts and may well be the most likely winner of the pair.

18:15- Winslow has endured a problematic career to date, and with market vibes fairly negative on his first run for over year, he is one to take on, for all he should appreciate this step up in trip. Mont Ras is well handicapped on his old form and may well come good at some stage, but the bet of the race looks to be the still-improving Storm Rock, who took another step forward at Nottingham last time when second to You're Fired, despite being inconvenienced by the conditions of the race.

18:45- Declamation takes a step up in class from his last win, and although he had performed from higher marks for Mark Johnston previously, he looks one to take on. Moonbi Creek beat a subsequent winner last time over C&D and remains well-treated on old form, so is of interest, but the bet of the race could be Mr Christopher, who improved markedly on his previous form on just his second start for Tom Dascombe at this track over 6 furlongs last time. Although he is bred to be a sprinter, he seemed to stay further than this for former connections, and looks worth a bet back in handicaps.

19:15- David O'Meara was unable to get a win out of Yorkshire, and he looks one to take on, now switched to Ivan Furtado, who will be his fifth different trainer in his short career. A better betting proposition is Blossom Mills, who is making her handicap debut for Ralph Beckett. Beckett enjoyed success with Blossom Mills' relatives, Air Pilot and Air Squadron, last season, and it would be no surprised to see him get some improvement from his latest recruit.

19:45- Sky Ship finished with running left when fourth at Kempton last time, and looks the most obvious option. He is short enough in the market, however, and this race is best left alone from a betting point of view.

20:15- This could be between Sparring and The Steward. The former recorded a hat-trick at the beginning of the season, and was likely put aside for a winter campaign since. His last victory was not the most convincing, however, and he will have had to improve a fair bit to defy his new mark. The bet of the race could be The Steward, who won with something in hand at Kempeton last time and looks better treated than Sparring from a 6lb-higher mark.

20:45- Quality Song was much improved on his first start for Richard Hughes when winning over C&D last time, and may have more to offer here. Ickymasho is next best, taking a step up in class after getting off the mark at Kempton last time, but both are probably at their correct places in the market.

21:15- Elle Rebelle has been in good form recently, posting a couple of good efforts over C&D and at Chelmsford. She has a modest strike rate overall, however, and Hazel Blue is a more interesting alternative from a betting perspective on just her second start for David O'Meara. Hazel Blue scored for former connections at Dundalk over a mile from this sort of mark, and it'd be a surprise if her excellent new trainer could not get a win out of her at some stage.
