Timeform take you through the card at Ayr on Monday...
"...he can be a big player at this level..."
Timeform on Ebony Jewel
13:00 - ANIMORE (1) went backwards slightly when fifth of six at Musselburgh last time, but showed enough promise in bumpers to suggest she is capable of winning a race of this nature. She was too keen on that occasion, but comes into this off a seven-month break and is a big player if able to put that race behind her and recapture the promise she showed on her debut in this sphere.
13:35 - EBONY JEWEL (3) was well beaten in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree on his final start last season but showed enough potential prior to suggest he should have a future over hurdles. An impressive bumper winner at this course, he now makes his debut in this sphere after a six-month break and should be a major force.
14:10 - CHATEAU ROBIN (6) was narrowly denied a winning start for his new stable when headed in the final 100 yards at Perth after pulling clear of the rest of the field (containing subsequent winner Roll of Thunder). He shaped well following a 13-month break in July and should go well again today after a further three months off. Ettila de Sivola rates as the main danger on his chase debut after showing good form over hurdles last season.
14:45 - ORIONINVERNESS (1) returned to form last time out when second at Hexham on his seasonal debut, keeping on well after his rider dropped the whip on the run-in. He is up 2 lb in the weights for that run, but this step back up in trip will suit, and he is expected to be bang there for an in-form yard. Asking For Answers made mistakes on his chase debut but is on a lenient mark and should not be underestimated on his second try over fences.
15:20 - RIGHTDOWNTHEMIDDLE (5) has re-joined Gordon Elliot following an underwhelming spell with Sean Curran and looks to have dropped to a handy mark here. The pick of his form puts him towards the top of the shortlist and he is fancied to go well if able to shrug off his recent disappointments.
15:55 - The nicely-bred LEGAL BEAGLE (4) (half-brother to bumper winners Carefully Selected and Midnight Run) makes the most appeal in this field for a yard with a good record with bumper debutants. Nicky Richards also has an impressive strike rate at Ayr so Legal Beagle gets the nod ahead of MR CAPLAN (5), who also makes appeal for a top stable.
