Tony McFadden tackles the Placepot at Taunton on Tuesday...
Starlet Mandy may be one of her yard's lesser lights, but she does look like a thorough stayer and that could be crucial in today's conditions...
14:00- A winner at Fakenham on Friday, Edmund Kean has a quick turnaround to deal with, but he looked like useful prospect when ploughing through the testing conditions last week and he really ought to supplement that victory here.
14:30- Starlet Mandy may be one of her yard's lesser lights, but she does look like a thorough stayer and that could be crucial in today's conditions. Returning from a three-month absence, Starlet Mandy produced an improved effort at this venue when faced with today's trip, and she remains open to further progress with the emphasis on stamina. Bernard is another who should be untroubled by the heavy ground and he has struck up a good partnership with his inexperienced rider, hitting the frame on his last three outings.
15:05- Highland Retreat appeals as a straightforward, likeable mare, exactly the type you need for a Placepot, and her second at Wincanton behind Master of The Sea was franked in no uncertain terms when that progressive horse bolted up at Newbury. It was slightly disappointing that she couldn't score at Ludlow last time, but her smooth-travelling style was once again in evidence as she finished third, and it would be a surprise were she not on the premises.
15:40- Sametegal and Oscar Nominee are obviously of interest, representing the powerhouse stables of Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson, but, in a trappy contest, we will take them on with Home Run and Chesil Beach Boy. The former has been in excellent heart this season, rattling up a five-timer, and his attempt to land six on the spin was only thwarted by a handicap blot in Mr Mole. Chesil Beach Boy has always appealed as a horse that could be ahead of his mark, often shaping better than the result, and he can make a bold bid to get back to winning ways.
16:15- Admiral Blake shaped as if he was well treated at Lingfield last time, travelling well for much of the way and looking a real threat on his way to eventually finishing second. The going was really testing on that occasion, so today's heavy ground shouldn't pose many problems, and Admiral Blake appeals as a relatively progressive type at this lowly level. Posh Emily was undoubtedly disappointing at Kempton last time, but it is worth noting that she has often gone well at this track before, notching up three wins and hitting the frame on many occasions, and the reapplication of cheekpieces could also have a positive impact.
16:45- While shaping promisingly on debut, Shadow In Cruise looked as if he will need further to show his best and it could be worth taking him on with a couple of newcomers, Split Or Stick and Dark Desire making the most appeal. Representing Rebecca Curtis and Colin Tizzard respectively, it would be little surprise were either capable of going close on debut and we will include both.

15:40- 3, 5
16:15- 7, 13
