We head to the Southwell fibresand for Friday's attempt at landing the Placepot...
12:20- A few in here have all-important fibresand form, including last-time-out winner Red Tide who produced his best effort yet to narrowly fend off Musical Molly. Red Tide displayed a likeable attitude to prevail, appears to be going the right way and holds solid credentials. With just two places on offer it is also worth including Shades of Silk as he has a good record on this surface and ran creditably to finish runner-up here last month.
12:50- There are a couple of potential improvers in here, but we'll stick with College Doll and Incomparable as they boast solid fibresand form and should be on the premises. College Doll just seems a bit better here than elsewhere and she was a bit unlucky to bump into an unexposed type last time, comfortably on top of the rest. Incomparable wasn't in the best of form last time, but he is a three-time C&D winner and is the type to bounce back quickly.
13:25- Toto Skyllachy has a bit to find on the figures if Monsieur Chevalier runs to his best, but David O'Meara's runner has been in good form at this venue recently and looks the solid option. Even if Monsieur Chevalier does take to the surface Toto Skyllachy should still manage second, which is good enough for Placepot purposes, so he's banker material.
13:55- Westminster had some of these in behind when finishing runner-up here last time and he could yet do better, still unexposed on this surface. The small rise in the weights that Westminster incurred for that good second has been offset by the booking of a handy 5-lb claimer, and he looks sure to launch a bold bid.
14:30- Sleet will understandably be popular in the Placepot on the back of an encouraging effort last time, but he is sure to take up a fair chunk of the pool and faces a couple of solid rivals, so we will instead side with Art Dzeko and Poppy Bond. Art Dzeko shaped reasonably well over C&D last time, despite being kept to the unfavoured inside, and he is interesting with the cheekpieces - which were absent last time - refitted this afternoon. Poppy Bond ran creditably on her return from a year-long absence at Wolverhampton last time and, already proven on this surface, looks to hold a decent chance if progressing as expected.
15:00- It's difficult to oppose Deuce Again as she displayed plenty of promise in a couple of Newbury turf maidens last summer and, though unproven on fibresand, her leading yard do have an excellent record at this venue. She should be extremely difficult to beat and looks banker material.
