It'd be wrong to dress Thursday's diet as anything other than a dip after yesterday, but Sedgefield still looks to offer a winnable Placepot.
"Danceintothelight has gone more than two years without a win but has run well more often than not of late."
13:45 - Prince Khurram is a solid choice for us, having plenty of experience and there being reason to think he'll do better now with a recent run behind him and his yard in better form.
14:15 - The only thing against Bertie Moon is a relatively short turnaround since his long-coming revelatory run at Perth last week. Besides that, he stands out in this company.
14:45 - Classinaglass has a more consistent profile than the equally interesting Abricot de L'Oasis, so he's in. This is a seven-runner race, however, so we're going to back him up with Claragh Native, who has been fairly reliable lately for all his quirks.
15:15 - A close match as far as the win market goes, but for us Gin Cobbler is by far the best option. He's been reliable right through a recent busy spell and looked set to play a part before unseating last time. Though he's no battler, just getting into a competitive position will do for us.
15:45 - We're going to take a chance and bank in this relatively big-field contest. Danceintothelight has gone more than two years without a win but has run well more often than not of late. What's more, his mark has rarely been lower than this in all that time and he has the bonus of Jamie Bargary's 7-lb claim, for which he's good value.
16:20 - Debt To Society was suited by the way the race (over C&D) developed last time, but that was the culmination of a recent good spell and therefore he's a good choice for the Placepot, better than Generous Chief who has fitness questions to answer.
