There's another rollover in the Scoop6 and the win and bonus fund could reach a combined £750,000! Here's Timeform's suggested permutation.
We will also include Houblon des Obeaux, a previous winner of this race, as he has a tremendous record at this venue and has gone well fresh in the past, notably when finishing runner-up to Many Clouds in last year's Hennessy.
Ascot 12:40- I'dliketheoption has made a promising start to his career and can make it three wins from four starts over hurdles. Jonjo O'Neill's lightly-raced hurdler did well to win at Fontwell last time having conceded first run, and he could prove to be well treated on his handicap debut. The presence of Barry Geraghty in the saddle is another positive and it's likely that I'dliketheoption has more to offer.
Ascot 13:45- Voix D'eau had plenty in hand when opening his account over fences at Ffos Las recently, and he can strike again, for all this is a much tougher assignment. Voix D'eau hasn't made many starts for the excellent Harry Fry, so there is good reason to expect better still, especially in this sphere. This is a tricky race so we will also include Mont Royale in the permutation as he has been in good form of late, finishing runner-up on his last four outings, and the booking of Barry Geraghty for the first time is a positive one.
Ascot 14:15- Royal Regatta took well to chasing last term, winning on a couple of occasions, and he looks to hold leading claims on his reappearance, fitness unlikely to be an issue given his yard's record first time out. Royal Regatta was disappointing on his final start of the campaign at Aintree, but he's well worth forgiving and could well prove to be a different proposition having been freshened up.
Ascot 14:50- Smart Flat stayer Nabucco has made a sound transition to hurdling, and there's every reason to think he has been handed a lenient opening mark. Nabucco hardly put a foot wrong when scoring with plenty in hand at Huntingdon last time and he remains open to further improvement in this sphere, mindful of the level he reached on the Flat.
Wetherby 15:05- Things didn't go Cue Card's way last season, but he showed that he still retains a fair bit of ability, and he is well suited by these race conditions, receiving weight from some inferior rivals. This track ought to play to Cue Card's strengths and he should launch a bold bid.
Ascot 15:25- The lightly-raced Pendra has given the impression that he is capable of landing one of these competitive handicaps, and he may be worth siding with. Pendra is fairly treated, has a good record fresh and represents a yard in good form, so he has plenty in his favour. We will also include Houblon des Obeaux, a previous winner of this race, as he has a tremendous record at this venue and has gone well fresh in the past, notably when finishing runner-up to Many Clouds in last year's Hennessy.
