After missing out on yesterday's £4,000 dividend at Royal Ascot by one place, attentions turn to Pontefract on Sunday.

"Connecticut is the better prospect for the season overall, though with race-fitness against him, and for Gatewood, we’re siding with John Gosden’s charge."

14:10 - Experienced, seemingly clued-up and with the pedigree to suggest she'll deal with this stiffer six furlongs, Dawaa is a good choice for a banker in leg one. We'll take our chances elsewhere.

14:40 - Only three runners, one of which showed little short-term promise on her debut less than four weeks ago. Therefore the other two, Faith Matters and Spring Dixie, go in.

15:10 - We can't find a banker in this tightly-contested, seven-runner handicap. The best we can manage is to say that Dance King is top of the list. We'll back him up with The Character, who took a step up from a consistent base at Haydock last time.

15:40 - Connecticut is the better prospect for the season overall, though with race-fitness against him, and for Gatewood, we're siding with John Gosden's charge.

16:10 - We're taking a punt on this leg, assuming that the step up in trip for Awaywiththegreys will do the job on his handicap debut. He'll surely stay, being a three-miler over jumps, and it looks as though this sort of race has been the target since he belatedly set out on his Flat career.

16:40 - Not a strong race for the grade, and it'd be difficult to see Arethusa being out of the first two should she match her effort at Sandown last time.

Selections:

14:40 - 2, 4
15:10 - 1, 4
15:40 - 2
