Pontefract Placepot: Sunday July 29

Pontefract is the venue for Sunday's Placepot

Timeform's Joe Szekeres heads to Pontefract on Sunday as he looks to land a winning Placepot permutation...

Noble Silk and Eltifaat are both Timeform Horses in Focus and the two we rely upon should we get this far in the Sunday Placepot...

14:20 - A maiden isn't the best way to start things but Ziggy's Secret and Shillito set the standard, that pair difficult to see out of the placings if they give their best running. A few of the lightly-raced types remain open to progression but it should pay to stick with those with form in the book in this type of contest.

14:50 - Mr Snoozy won over course and distance last time and he should be capable of following up again in a similar contest against limited opposition. In a seemingly open handicap, it could prove folly to select a banker but it will keep lines down and it could pay dividends if other results go our way.

15:20 - Probably the hardest leg on the card so it probably makes sense to go with the top three in terms of Timeform ratings. Those that get the nod are Master of Song, Border Bandit and Honoured, the trio hopefully enough to see us through to the fourth leg.

15:50 - Set the Trend is just about banker material in the fourth and her solid credentials mean she is relied upon in a race where there are question marks above some of her rivals. Her sixth in the Summer Mile should have put her just right for this afternoon's contest and it would be a surprise if she wasn't involved in the finish,

16:20 - My Kingdom has finished second on his last six starts and there is every reason to believe he should be back amongst the places in this afternoon's contest. My Kingdom will be ridden by Jamie Specer this afternoon, a big positive, and the pair are close to representing banker material in the race. Damika is the other selection, however, that one also towards the top of the Timeform ratings having been in strong form of late.

16:50 - Noble Silk and Eltifaat are both Timeform Horses in Focus and the two we rely upon should we get this far in the Sunday Placepot. The pair should be open to enough progression to see off the majority of their rivals in what probably isn't the strongest maiden.
