Newmarket was the source of Placepot profit yesterday so that is where we return on Friday...
Yuften created a taking impression on debut, pulling clear of the field along with a potentially-smart rival, and he could prove difficult to beat in the seven-furlong maiden...
13:40- Radiator is sure to be all the rage following a wide-margin maiden win and she looks like a filly of some potential. This is much tougher, though, and it could be worth taking on the hot favourite in the hope of a Placepot-busting result. Lightning Thunder did well under the circumstances to retain her unbeaten record at Doncaster, beating a pair of useful colts, and should be suited by the step up to seven furlongs; she is the first filly we will turn to. Midnite Angel is open to less improvement than many of her rivals but she boasts a useful level of form and ought to be on the premises if running up to her best.
14:10- Igugu is a very smart performer at her best and sets the standard dropping in grade. She was below her best, however, last time and could be worth opposing on her British debut. Estiqaama started this season from a lowly mark of 70 but she has progressed rapidly, winning on all three starts this term, and looks ready for the step up in class. She should produce a bold show from the front. Zurigha was possibly unsuited by softer conditions at Doncaster last time and could bounce back to her best, which would see her go close, under the red-hot Ryan Moore.
14:40- Soft Falling Rain and Montiridge were both beaten last time but they look like the class acts in the field and can fight out the finish. The former lost his unbeaten record at Newbury but is entitled to be sharper for the run, while the latter was far too keen at Haydock and the effort is easily forgiven.
15:15- Ihtimal, an impressive winner of the Sweet Solera and May Hill Stakes, boasts solid credentials and should go close in the Fillies' Mile. This is her stiffest test by some way but she looks like a talented, uncomplicated filly and really ought to finish in the first three. We will bank on the consistent Ihtimal.
15:50- Yuften created a taking impression on debut, pulling clear of the field along with a potentially-smart rival, and he could prove difficult to beat in the seven-furlong maiden. William Haggas' juvenile is entitled to improve with the benefit of that experience behind him and the Group 1-entered colt is sure to go well.
16:25- Gatewood's form in Australia was fairly patchy but he got back on the right track when finishing second at Doncaster last time, shaping as if he is still as good as ever. This looks like a good opportunity for Gatewood to regain the winning thread. His in-and-out profile in Australia makes banking on him a risky proposition, though, and it could also be worth including Renew who has looked progressive and enters this contest at the top of his game.
