There's an interesting meeting at Lingfield this afternoon and that's where we head for Tuesday's attempt at the Placepot.
Royal Acquisition looked better than ever when running out a clear-cut winner on his first start for the Ivan Furtado yard, and he will prove difficult to beat if able to replicate that form.
14:00- This is a tricky race to call with a couple of unraced sorts towards the head of the betting, but we'll side with twice-raced pair Dylantelle and Weather Front. Dylantelle looks to have been brought along gradually, seemingly learning on the job, and it is hoped that she will benefit from her latest outing when she stayed on nicely without being able to land a blow. Weather Front showed plenty to work on when finishing fourth on debut, but he ruined his chance last time by pulling hard and hanging. That was probably a much better race than this, however, and he deserves another chance.
14:35- State Of The Union ended his time with David O'Meara in disappointing fashion, but this is a big drop in class on debut for a new yard and there should be no excuses on these terms. He is sure to take up a big chunk of the pool, however, so it's also worth including Diminutive in the permutation as, although she's on a long losing run, she's been in good heart of late, regularly finishing placed.
15:00- Maymyo is going through a really good spell at present and shaped better than the bare result at Epsom last time, finishing fourth having helped set a strong pace. He looks to have a good chance on form and is selected to quickly regain the winning thread. It may also be worth including C&D winner Caminel as she bounced back to her best when finishing runner-up at Kempton last time and would be a danger if in similar heart here.
15:30- Royal Acquisition looked better than ever when running out a clear-cut winner on his first start for the Ivan Furtado yard, and he will prove difficult to beat if able to replicate that form. In fact, Royal Acquisition may even be capable of building upon that effort and looks banker material in the Placepot.
16:05- Canford Thompson offered plenty to work on when finishing third on debut at Wolverhampton, and that effort just about sets the standard here. Canford Thompson caught the eye with how strongly he travelled through that race, lasting on the bridle longer than most, and he looks sure to improve with that experience under his belt.
16:35- In the absence of Fanny Again, this looks a good opportunity for Incantare who arrives here on the back of a solid runner-up effort at this course last month. Incantare did have the benefit of a good position last time, but she still seemed to excel herself and ought to be right on the premises if able to run to a similar level.
