Lingfield Placepot: Tuesday February 24

Lingfield stage racing on Tuesday afternoon

Lingfield stage all-weather racing this afternoon and that's where we head for Tuesday's attempt at the Placepot...

14:10- The expensively-purchased Regards made an encouraging start to his career when finishing fifth at Wolverhampton, shaping as if he'll be a different proposition with the benefit of experience, and he looks sure to launch a bold bid here. With some trickier contests to tackle later on the card, we'll bank on Godolphin's lightly-raced three-year-old.

14:40- John Gosden's Lashkaal improved with each start last term and sets a clear standard based on her good second at Newmarket. She remains open to further improvement and should prove tricky to beat.

15:10- Teen Ager is on a long losing run at present but he finished a creditable third at Kempton last time, has a good course record and looks to have solid each-way claims. He's no banker proposition, though, so we'll also include Tableforten as, while he's a temperamental sort, he did run well at Wolverhampton last time and has to be respected on that form.

15:40- Matraash hasn't won for a while but he's been in good form of late and arrives here on the back of a good second at Wolverhampton. A similar sort of effort would entitle him to be on the premises, and he's the first horse that we will turn to. Understory is another that hasn't tasted success for a while, but he too looks competitive on the best of his form, and put up a respectable effort last time.

16:10- Keep Kicking goes well around here and arrives on the back of a well-deserved success at Chelmsford City so has to be considered. It was impressive how strongly he travelled for much of the way at Chelmsford, and this speed-favouring track very much plays to his strengths. We'll also add two-time C&D winner Feb Thirtyfirst as he's been in good form of late and should continue to give a good account under conditions he evidently appreciates.

16:40- Medicean Melody showed some promise when finishing third over C&D recently, running better than the bare result having been left poorly placed when the gallop lifted, and she is capable of better yet. She's one of the more solid propositions and makes plenty of appeal from a Placepot perspective. Medicean Melody has a nice profile and we'll bank on her in the Placepot.
