Lingfield Placepot: Sunday December 22

Lingfield plays host to racing on Sunday.

Timeform's Matt Gardner tackles the Placepot at Lingfield on Sunday...

"Nassau Storm is well treated at present and shaped as though his time was near when finishing fifth, against a pace bias, at Kempton last month..."

12:30 - Uncle Muf is forced to concede weight to all of his rivals in the opening maiden, as a result of his success over C&D last month, but he is clearly well suited to this sort of test and it would come as a surprise were he to miss the places.

13:00 - The second bumper looks a match between Mm Dazzler and Bugsy's Girl, with the first mentioned preferred for Placepot purposes. Trained in Ireland by Adrian Maguire, the five-year-old left his Point form well behind when finishing runner-up on debut in this sphere, before probably finding the softer ground against him at Cork last time. This surface should suit, and he can go well.

13:30 - Timeless War and Irish Tears are respected here but the vote goes to Fine Vintage, a Montjeu half-brother to several winners, including the useful polytrack winner Horsted Keynes. The juvenile shaped well when third on debut at Wolverhampton last month, and looks set to build on that effort now.

14:00 - Meglio Ancora, twice a winner for Alastair Lidderale in 2012, has finally returned to form in recent weeks, finishing third at Kempton and then getting back on the scoreboard at Wolverhampton nine days ago. He's 4 lb higher now, but there's every chance that he'll go close in an attempt to supplement that success. It's also worth including Meetha Achar, who didn't achieve much in three maidens but starts out in handicaps from a low mark and hails from a fairly shrewd yard.

14:30 - Emkanaat, Loyalty and Atlantis Crossing are all respected in a decent handicap, but Nassau Storm is well treated at present and shaped as though his time was near when finishing fifth, against a pace bias, at Kempton last month. It's well worth chancing him to build upon that now.

15:00 - Spiritoftomintoul and Be Perfect are the selections in the final leg, with the first mentioned completely unexposed as a stayer after matching the pick of his form when upped to two miles for the first time in August. He has since left Lady Cecil and joined Tony Carroll, but is clearly of interest at that same trip. Be Perfect remains 5 lb above his last winning mark and wasn't at his best on both outings last month, but had at least been fairly consistent up to that point and could get involved if returning to form.
