There's a good meeting on the all-weather at Lingfield this afternoon, and that is where we head for our attempt at the Placepot...
13:30- Investissement had the misfortune of bumping into all-weather stalwart La Estrella last time, but he ran creditably, giving the prolific winner something to think about. A repeat of that kind of form would make him difficult to beat under these terms, and he's the first horse that we'll include. With just four runners, and only the winner progressing in the Placepot, we'll also add While You Wait to the permutation as he should strip fitter for a recent spin around here, and the headgear has been reapplied.
14:00- Farendole has the profile of an obvious improver, though it may pay to side with the more solid propositions for Placepot purposes. Lady Charlie showed improved form to win at Wolverhampton last time and the form has worked out well. A 6 lb higher mark shouldn't prevent her from giving a good account and she's the first horse that we'll turn to. Vejovis showed much improved form in first-time blinkers last time, and he looks competitive on that form. Vejovis may yet be open to further improvement, bearing in mind his lightly-raced profile, and has to enter the equation.
14:35- Burnt Cream has been running well of late and everything clicked into place when she delivered over this C&D two weeks ago. It's not hard to imagine Burnt Cream swooping late again and, with three places on offer, we'll bank on her going close.
15:10- This is a competitive contest, and many can be given a chance, but we'll first turn to the progressive Shyron. Shyron is starting to amass a good record on the all-weather, and he impressed with his latest success over this C&D, winning with a bit in hand. He still appears well treated and could have more to offer on this surface. There are plenty in with a chance here, though, and we will include Related for a bit of insurance. Related looked better than ever returning to the all-weather at Kempton, digging deep to win, and he looks the type that will continue to run well on this surface.
15:45- Coursing has looked quirky in the past but she seemed transformed by the application of blinkers when bolting up at Wolverhampton, and she has been found a nice opportunity to follow up. Coursing sets a clear standard and, provided she runs to form, should prove far too good.
16:10- The promise that Illusive Force has shown in three starts to date, allied to his expensive price tag and useful pedigree, suggests that there's better to come, and we'll bank on Charlie Hills's colt going close. Illusive Force still looked a bit green when finishing third at Wolverhampton and hopefully with natural improvement he will take another step forward.
