There's an interesting meeting at Leicester this afternoon and that's where we head for Thursday's attempt at the Placepot...

Roaring Forties boasts the strongest form and, with further improvement forthcoming, he looks sure to give a good account...

14:20- The well-bred and expensively-purchased Roaring Forties has progressed with each run in six-furlong maidens and has more to offer now going handicapping upped in trip. Godolphin's charge arguably boasts the strongest form and, with further improvement forthcoming, he looks sure to give a good account.

14:50- Dual winner Orlando Rogue was narrowly beaten in a handicap last time and would be hard to beat if in the same form down in grade here. With three places on offer we will bank on Orlando Rogue going close.

15:25- Gleneely Girl is on a bit of a losing run but she is holding her form well at present and arrives on the back of some creditable efforts, so there is every reason to expect another bold bid from the Rae Guest-trained filly. The withdrawal of Cricklewood Green has reduced the field to seven, meaning only the top two will go through in the Placepot, so we will also include Grand Spirit in the permutation as Luca Cumani's three-year-old is less exposed than many of these and could have more to offer on return from a short break.

15:55- The withdrawal of Period Piece means that just four are set to go to post and only the winner will progress in the Placepot. Ya Latif and Fine View hold the strongest form credentials, but it's difficult to rule out any of the quartet with confidence, so the best ploy looks to be including all four in the Placepot.

16:30- Burmese shaped well on his racecourse bow and holds an obvious chance but he faces a couple of interesting debutants in Air of Astana and Buonarotti Boy, and we will side with the newcomers. Air of Astana represents the Hugo Palmer yard whose juveniles are in tremendous form at present, and he makes some appeal on paper, a half-brother to the useful winner George Cinq. Buonarotti Boy is closely related to the top-class Authorized and, with such a taking pedigree, he has to be of interest, representing a stable capable of readying one.

17:00- Solid Justice is back down to last winning mark and seems to be finding his form, coming here on the back of a creditable effort at Beverley. A visor has been fitted and a good-value claimer booked, so he looks to be a big player and ought to launch a bold bid.
