Leicester Placepot: Sunday November 30

There's a good card at Leicester this afternoon
There's a good card at Leicester this afternoon

Leicester stage an interesting meeting and that is where we head for Sunday's attempt at the Placepot...

With just three chase starts to his name, The Ould Lad is entitled to improve further with experience and looks good betting material..

12:40- The expensively-purchased Stellar Notion created a good impression last season, winning a bumper and a hurdle in good style, and his runner-up effort to Un Ace looks better now given that horse's subsequent exploits. He could prove well treated starting out over fences and is an exciting prospect.

13:10- This isn't the strongest of events and every horse has some sort of question to answer. Therefore it might be a good idea to oppose short-priced favourite Swampfire in the hope of a result. We'll side with Boston Blue and Spin Cast as they would prove competitive if bringing their best form to the table, and this is the easiest task that they have faced for a while.

13:45- Lightly-raced six-year-old The Ould Lad is going the right way at present and won in good style last time, so an 8 lb rise shouldn't be enough to stop him going close. With just three chase starts to his name, The Ould Lad is entitled to improve further with experience and looks good betting material. This is quite a competitive contest, however, so it may be worth adding Midnight Cataria for a bit of insurance as Alan King's charge was in the process of running well when coming down at Worcester, and the yard is firing on all cylinders.

14:15- John Louis is well treated on his flat form for Philip McBride - he won four times in that sphere, including from a BHA mark of 83 - and has shaped with more promise over hurdles than the bare form figures may indicate. He went noticeably well for a long way in a competitive-looking Cheltenham handicap, possibly hampered by attempting to make headway along the unfavoured inside, and should go close in this lesser event.

14:50- One For The Boss improved again to win over C&D and he boasts the most solid credentials by some way. A reproduction of that kind of effort should make him tough to beat, while his rivals' frailties mean that he's good banker material in the Placepot.

15:20- Private Malone was looking vulnerable at Worcester prior to his chief rival suffering a fatal injury, but he remains a promising prospect nevertheless and should prove a class above today's opponents.

Recommendations:
12:40- 2
13:10- 1, 7
13:45- 1, 2
14:15- 8
14:50- 1
15:20- 1
= 4 lines
