18:00 - John Gosden's Handsome Ransom looks very much the one to beat in the opening maiden having gone close in a similar event on his recent Lingfield reappearance. He remains open to further improvement and this evening's race doesn't look the strongest on paper, so he is relied upon as the sole selection.
18:30 - Fair Passion hasn't been at her very best on turf/fibresand recently but she has at least shown enough to suggest she remains in decent heart, and the return to tonight's track looks to be a significant positive. Her record in course-and-distance handicaps reads 3272211, and from a decent draw she should be thereabouts. Osiris Way is into the veteran stage now but, having lost his way towards the end of his 2011 campaign, returns on an attractive handicap mark, has a good record fresh, and ran a solid race on his sole outing at this track, so it would be no surprise if he went well.
19:00 - Marvelino ran his best race in three starts to date over five furlongs at Kempton, and the form of that second-placed finish has worked out really well. He may have been unsuited by softish conditions at Ascot last time, but back at tonight's track upped to six furlongs for the first time, he looks solid to go well. Ace Pearl was well backed on debut at Southwell earlier this month but proved too green to do himself justice. After coming off the bridle a long way out he kept on under moderate pressure and, with that experience under his belt and an extra furlong, he should be wiser.
19:30 - Delagoa Bay was a decisive winner at Wolverhampton last week and looks well treated under a 6 lb penalty in the two-mile handicap in the fourth leg. He has yet to fully prove that he stays the trip but it looks unlikely to present a problem, and he should be invovled. Blackstone Vegas isn't the easiest to win with but he can generally be relied on to run a solid race, and he makes some appeal from a placepot perspective given he arrives in decent heart and has a good record of being thereabouts at the finish.
20:00 - Sir Mark Prescott's Awesome Pearl won a seven-furlong maiden at the track on his second and final start last year, and shaped well upped to a mile and a quarter at Lingfield on his recent reappearance. He appeals as the type to do even better now handicapping over even further. Ukranian showed marked improvement on his reappearance/handicap debut upped to tonight's trip at Wolverhampton last month, winning readily by four lengths. He is 10 lb higher now but looks likely to go on progressing, and should also go well.
20:30 - In the final leg the most solid option could well be Diplomatic who is returning from a short break but was in fine form at this track when last seen, finishing either first or second in four handicaps at the course. From his inside draw he has plenty in his favour. Loyal N Trusted also arrives on the back of some good polytrack efforts, runner-up over a mile at the track on his penultimate outing and winning over the trip at Wolverhampton last time. There seems to be little reason why he shouldn't go well again.
