Kempton Placepot: Monday March 31

Monday's Placepot attempt comes from Kempton
Monday's Placepot attempt comes from Kempton

There is a good all-weather card at Kempton and that is where we head for Monday's attempt at the Placepot...

Ranjaan has produced some fine efforts in defeat in jumpers' bumpers and wasn't ideally placed when finishing sixth at Lingfield last time...

14:30- Arab Spring is well bred, showed plenty of promise on his sole start last season (finished runner-up in a Newmarket maiden) and is in the hands of top connections; he should have little difficulty winning the opening 10-furlong maiden. With some trickier assignments later on the card, we will bank on Arab Spring.

15:00- Posh Boy boasts a largely progressive profile on polytrack and, having registered a career-best effort when last seen in action, he looks sure to give a good account of himself. Posh Boy is 5 lb higher than when scoring over 11 furlongs in October, but he won that contest with a fair degree of ease and should be competitive this afternoon. With just seven set to go to post, however, we won't risk banking on Posh Boy and we will also add Candy Kitten. Candy Kitten may not have much in hand of the assessor but she has largely been in good form and has a likeable habit of making the frame.

15:30- Although Adiynara scored in determined fashion here last time she is not the most consistent of types and could be worth taking on from a Placepot perspective. We will instead side with Kenny's Girl and Dazzling Valentine. Kenny's Girl was handed a stiff opening mark following three creditable efforts in maidens but she has been offered some respite by the handicapper and should give a good account back down in trip. Dazzling Valentine hasn't been in top form of late but the handicapper has given her a chance and she is worth risking.

16:00- Crystalized shaped encouragingly when fifth on her handicap debut over C&D last month and the application of cheekpieces for the first time could bring about some further improvement. This doesn't appeal as an especially strong contest and we will keep the number of lines down by banking on Dean Ivory's charge.

16:30- Dutiful Son is a progressive colt who justified market confidence in good style when winning a C&D maiden in December, and he showed further improvement when scoring on his handicap bow last month. Dutiful Son won with plenty in hand last time, is in good hands and looks sure to carry on improving. He ought to go extremely close this afternoon and we will rely on him finishing in the first three.

17:00- Ranjaan has produced some fine efforts in defeat in jumpers' bumpers and wasn't ideally placed when finishing sixth at Lingfield last time. He evidently handles the surface well and can make a bold bid for the places while carrying relatively few lines. He is joined in the permutation by Noble Silk who put up a career-best effort when finishing ahead of Ranjaan at Lingfield, proving his stamina for the two-mile trip as he stayed on well for second.

14:30- 1
15:00- 3, 4
15:30- 2, 3
16:00- 6
16:30- 6
17:00- 3, 5
= 8 lines
