14:20 - Seamster has been in cracking form recently, so he's a must for the Placepot, but there is a chance that he might be softened up by a pace battle with Island Legend so it's also worth including the one that seems most likely to be convenience by that circumstance, namely Secret Millionaire. Between them all bases should be covered.
14:50 - This isn't the strongest of maidens and, for all that the well-bred, Andrew Balding-trained newcomer Wonder Weapon makes plenty of appeal, it's difficult to get away from Arianrhod. The three-year-old made a promising enough start for Marco Botti in a Lingfield handicap earlier this month and is unlikely to finish out of the places with a repeat of that form.
15:20 - Thane Of Cawdor returned to winning ways here over 11 furlongs at the start of the month, despite being outpaced at a crucial stage. Taking that into account he did pretty well to emerge on top, and a 3 lb rise incurred for his troubles looks fair.
15:50 - In Tafawuk's absence the one to make most appeal is Reflect, but he's hardly banker material given that the Timeform squiggle is attached to his rating, so it's prudent to also include Manomine. It wouldn't be the greatest surprise were Thecornishcowboy to bounce back and take this but in the aforementioned pair we should at least progress to the next leg.
16:20 - A couple of personal favourites go in here, namely Piscean and Barnet Fair, but both have just as many negatives as positives surrounding them at the moment so the selection shall instead be Upavon. He returned to form over 7f here in November and is best forgiven his two subsequent runs, particularly the latest one as he failed to stay a mile. He's on a fair enough mark and seems sure to be involved at the death.
16:50 - Quite a trappy event with which to conclude the 'pot, with the two selections being Arashi and Mighty Mambo. It's easy to make a case for the likes of Topolski, Bramshill Lass and Arty Campbell too but hopefully, assuming the permutation has made it this far, the selections will see us across the line.
