Jonjo O'Neill's Forthefunofit looks banker material

Huntingdon has survived the cold snap and is the venue for Thursday's attempt at the Placepot...

Further improvement should be forthcoming, and Forthefunofit looks sure to go close.

13:55 - Nordic Nymph was kept to a wholly inadequate two miles in novices but has improved markedly since going handicapping upped in trip, winning at both Bangor and Exeter. She's got an unflattering way of going about things, often under pressure early, but finds plenty and has strong claims of landing the hat-trick despite a 13 lb higher mark. Minella Bliss arrives here in good heart, a winner over fences prior to two good efforts in defeat over hurdles, and looks an ideal back-up selection.

14:25 - Nathans Pride could still be ahead of the handicapper on his return to action but his yard are quiet at the moment and he encounters a fascinating rival in Forthefunofit. The six-year-old ran a cracker after 10 months off in a competitive Cheltenham handicap in October, just undone by a lack of fitness late on but deserving of plenty of credit for holding his own in such a race on just his second start over hurdles. Further improvement should be forthcoming, and he looks sure to go close.

15:00 - Bob Tucker shaped well on just his second start over fences at Newbury last month, partly responsible for the strong pace and understandably tiring late on having been ridden too aggressively. He remains open to improvement, still figures on a good mark and us unlikely to be out of the frame.

15:35 - Chatez was disappointing in a big-field Kempton handicap last time but is well worth another chance to get back on track returned to calmer waters. He goes in alongside Ultimate Act, who showed a good attitude when making all on hurdling debut at Warwick and may prove a tough nut to crack once more.

16:10 - Ultimatum du Roy has shaped well enough on his last couple of starts and looks a solid starting point in the fifth leg, with Free World also selected. The latter arrives here in good nick, posting another good effort at Wetherby last time, and should go well again.

16:40 - Ruby Rambler is bred more for the Flat but has plenty of size about her and showed a fair amount of ability when third on debut at Ludlow; a repeat of that should see her go close again. Martha McCandles also showed ability on debut, sticking to her task at Newbury, and can improve with that experience under her belt.
