There is some decent action at Fontwell on Sunday and that is where we head for a crack at the Placepot...
Just Cloudy probably found the run coming too soon when disappointing when last seen at Chepstow and is worth forgiving...
14:10- The withdrawal of Shays River has made things tricky as only four will go to post, meaning a win is needed to progress, and Benvolio, Via Sundown and Lamb Or Cod all hold legitimate claims. In situations such as this the best tactic is often to cover all angles and include the three, hoping the big outsider Niceboy - trading at 1000 on Betfair - doesn't spring a massive shock.
14:40- Kingcora shaped well when fourth in a strongly-contested handicap chase at Ascot last time, and this looks a lot easier, so we will bank on Venetia Williams's charge. He showed fairly useful form for this yard over hurdles last season, but already looks like making a much better chaser and this is a good opportunity for him to register a first success in this sphere.
15:10- Saphir Du Rheu is progressing at a rapid rate and it would be little surprise were he eventually capable of making his mark at the highest level. He has won on his three latest outings, showing a good attitude to prevail in the Welsh Champion Hurdle last time, and is extremely hard to oppose this afternoon. He represents banker material.
15:45- Hot Whiskey N Ice made a successful start under Rules in a Uttoxeter bumper that's worked out well and he produced an encouraging debut over hurdles at Kempton behind a taking winner last time. There is more to come and he should be included in the permutation. Brave Vic has been placed all 3 starts over hurdles this winter and the step up in trip will suit. He is likely to give another good account.
16:20- Richard's Sundance made a pleasing start to life in this sphere when finishing runner-up at Wincanton last month and a repeat of that effort is likely to be good enough to see him prevail. This doesn't look like a strong affair and we will rely on Victor Dartnall's veteran.
16:50- Just Cloudy probably found the run coming too soon when disappointing when last seen at Chepstow and is worth forgiving. He had previously shaped well at Huntingdon and is capable of scoring from this mark, so is very much respected on his return from a break. He is no banker proposition, though, so we will also include Clonusker who is improving at present and scored in ready fashion at Plumpton. He has a hefty rise to contend with but may be up to the challenge in his current heart.
14:10- 1, 2, 3
15:45- 2, 4
16:50- 5, 7
