Matt Hamlett brings you a Placepot permutation from Folkestone on Tuesday...
Shutthefrontdoor created a very good impression when winning bumpers at Ffos Las, Ascot (listed event) and Newbury (smart form when beating Village Vic a short head) in 2011/12 and rates an exciting recruit to hurdling. Defeat today would be a surprise...
12:40 - Umadachar and Old Dreams look the pair to concentrate on in the opening leg. The former disappointed in relation to her useful bumper form when only sixth on her hurdling début earlier this month, but that should have blown away the cobwebs (first run for seven months) and she looks sure to do better up in trip. The latter, meanwhile, has winning bumper form to her name and is bred to be suited by the longer trip now tackling obstacles.
13:10 - Sir Fredalot sets a decent standard in leg two and should be hard to keep out of the three. A fair performer on the Flat for Charlie Hills, he made a promising start over hurdles when a length second in a juvenile event at Sandown earlier this month, jumping fluently and rallying. A repeat of that effort should suffice this afternoon.
13:40 - Another banker in leg three in the shape of Shutthefrontdoor. The Accordion gelding created a very good impression when winning bumpers at Ffos Las, Ascot (listed event) and Newbury (smart form when beating Village Vic a short head) in 2011/12 and rates an exciting recruit to hurdling. Defeat today would be a surprise.
14:10 - Dynamic Idol shouldn't be far away in leg four having shaped quite well when needing the run in fifth at Warwick on his return a fortnight ago. He is joined by Todareistodo, who also shaped as if better for the run when nine lengths second to Old Magic in a handicap at Chepstow last time.
14:40 - A couple of interesting runners in leg five, none more so at morning prices than Just Josie, who improved when winning two handicap chases at the track over the winter. Absent since January, she remains open to improvement in this discipline and looks worth a play on her return. Joining her in the permutation are Local Present, who won cosily at Fakenham last time and remains well handicapped on his old form, and Red Mile, who is potentially thrown in if he can put together a clear round of jumping.
15:10 - Sulpius and Forever My Friend may be the obvious choices in leg six, but it would be a major surprise were one of the pair not to land this race and they can hopefully double up to round off the bet in good style.
