Tony McFadden heads to Ffos las on Monday to bring you a Placepot permutation...
The Venetia Williams-trained Last Shot appeals as one of the most solid options in this beginners’ chase having bounced back to his best when finishing second at Wincanton last time...
12:45- Alborz hasn't looked a natural over hurdles, but he is the only horse with experience over timber and that could count for plenty in today's gruelling conditions. Alborz is particularly suited by testing ground and we will bank on him and cross our fingers that all five go to post.
13:15- Well backed on both bumper starts for former handler Warren Greatrex, Military Precision was somewhat of a disappointment, failing to justify the support on either occasion. However, he is clearly held in some regard and the switch to the David Pipe yard could lead to an improved performance on his hurdling bow, so he makes the 'pot'.
13:45- The Venetia Williams-trained Last Shot appeals as one of the most solid options in this beginners' chase having bounced back to his best when finishing second at Wincanton last time. He has form on a testing surface and is the first horse we will turn to. Bendant didn't offer a great deal to work with at Hereford last time, but this doesn't look like a strong event and the reapplication of headgear could lead to an improved effort.
14:15- Stow has shown signs of temperament in the past, but his ability to handle heavy ground is an undoubted positive and he is on a fair mark if he decides to put it all in. Stow isn't one to bank on, however, so we will also include the David Evans-trained Valley Lad who ran his best race here last time, finishing second to the tenacious Le Beau Bai.
14:45- Kaybeew shaped encouragingly on his return at Fontwell last month, looking as if he was just short of peak fitness as he faltered slightly close home. He should come on a fair bit for that effort and he is fairly unexposed as a chaser relative to most of today's rivals. In a competitive contest we will also add Volador, a useful hurdler who jumped novicey on his chasing bow but remains open to plenty of improvement.
15:15- All eyes will be on Ulis de Vassy here, the horse Daryl Jacob was riding when he mistook the winning post at Wincanton and subsequently received a harsh ten-day suspension. It wouldn't have made a difference to his finishing position had Jacob continued riding to the line, but it was still a good effort from Ulis de Vassy in a race that is likely to work out well and he is our sole selection in the final leg.
