Fakenham Placepot: Wednesday October 28
Manageable field sizes and some good racing for the track leads us to Fakenham on Wednesday.
"The potenial of handicap debutant Calin du Brizais and the consistency of Ennisnag combine nicely to give us a good chance of getting at least one in the first three should the favourite do what's expected."
13:10 - There's a case for going with the in-form Occasionally Yours over warm order Tokyo Javilex, though we've only two places to aim for and the second-named is easily the more likely to take one of those. The only potential black mark is the amount of racing he's had of late, though given how he's thrived on it so far those worries are soon silenced.
13:40 - This is a weak-looking maiden, so the path would look to be clear for Legend Lady. However, with competition so thin and nine runners still in the race, we can be confident of Outrath also making the places. He wasn't as good as Legend Lady in bumpers, though he looked professional and makes more appeal as a second choice than Miami Present, who is making his third start over hurdles for a new yard.
14:10 - Likely favourite Mystery Code has something of a jumps pedigree (dam was dual-purpose) and is in Alan King's care, which is normally a positive when it comes to young hurdlers. However, we'd be just as positive about Culture de Sivola, who'll carry less of the pool. It's fairly rare to see a juvenile with such a jumps-oriented pedigree out in Britain at this time of year, while there was plenty of promise in her bumper run at Huntingdon recently.
14:40 - We've opposed a couple of short-priced favourites, now we're siding with one. Be On Time made a taking British debut last time, beating a subsequent winner at Worcester a fortnight ago, and is easily the most appealing in this field.
15:10 - This is another race that centres on a shorty. With three places available at the time of writing, we can leave Dainty Diva out. The potenial of handicap debutant Calin du Brizais and the consistency of Ennisnag combine nicely to give us a good chance of getting at least one in the first three should the favourite do what's expected.
15:40 - Though Road To Freedom isn't the best jumper and therefore mightn't be suited by whizzing around Fakenham, his win over Southwell's hurdles last time gives us hope and makes him look attractively handicapped back over fences. Vesuvhill took well enough to chasing at Market Rasen and looks reasonably handicapped on the balance of his hurdles form.
