Chester Placepot: Friday June 29

Chester: The venue for Friday's Placepot

Timeform's Joe Szekeres heads up to Chester to offer a placepot permutation for this evening's fixture...

Chosen Character was third in a stronger race off a 13 lb higher mark when at this meeting twelve months ago

18:15 - A maiden fillies' stakes isn't usually the most pleasant way to begin a placepot permutation but Savanna La Mar did enough on debut to suggest she should be well up to winning a contest of this nature, let alone grabbing the place we require. The form she demonstrated at Kempton last time is good enough to have won the last three renewals of this contest and, given her openness to progression, she looks the type to do very well for her yard.

18:50 - Ptolemy looks the type likely to improve on his first start in a handicap and the David Barron-trained runner is an obvious starting point in the seven-furlong handicap. The yard is in fine form at present and it would be a surprise to see him out of the frame. He isn't quite banker material, however, and we're also going to side with Double Cee, who is Timeform top-rated having won a handicap at Hamilton on his latest start.

19:25 - Not a great deal to separate the field in the third leg and we're going to go with potential again, Bon Allumage the one to get the nod here. Her victory in a Wolverhampton maiden could be potentially strong form and her respected connections clearly think highly of her having raced her in listed company last time. She bombed out on that occasion, however, so we're also going with El Torbellino, who generally boasts a strong and consistent profile.

19:55 - Glenridding looks the sort who could be in advance of his mark and he left the impression that he wasn't fully wound up when third at Thirsk on his latest start. James Given's eight-year-old is likely to make a bold bid from the front and it is difficult to envisage many of these having the capabilities of getting past him. One that could give him plenty to think about, however, is My Kingdom, his reliable nature sure to hold him in good stead here.

20:25 - Silvas Romana probably has some of the strongest form on offer in the penultimate leg and she just about sets the standard in a race which could prove a placepot buster. Clon Brulee is the other one worth siding with, David Barron's runner having found marked improvement on his handicap debut last time and likely to find even more.

21:00 - Chosen Character was third in a stronger race off a 13 lb higher mark when at this meeting twelve months ago and he looks the sort to go very close in the finale. His lack of good form and lack of consistency are the reasons why he has dropped so heavily in the handicap so we're also going to take Cyflymder, who could do well despite his draw if the race goes to plan.
