The relatively fiddly field sizes at Sedgefield make Chepstow a more appealing option for Tuesday's Placepot.
"Powerful Action is inescapable, the insinuation he’s well handicapped all the stronger to look at his bumper form."
14:00 - Leg one is tricky. Our choice essentially comes down to Parish Business and Thespis of Icaria, though neither is one for maximum faith: the drop in trip is unlikely to show up Parish Business in a better light and Thespis of Icaria has surely had problems so lightly raced is he. The upside is that Thespis of Icaria might therefore be best caught fresh, so he's chosen as our banker three months on from his return from a long absence.
14:30 - It's hard to get away from Take A Bow, who has looked somewhat idle but by the same token will more than likely benefit from stepping up to three miles. For a backup that taps into a fresher seam, take Strong Wind. He's improved gradually over the summer, winning once and running well otherwise. He too will be better suited to three miles, so another slice of improvement should take him into the places.
15:05 - To call Hawdyerwheesht reliable would be stretching it, though in the context of sellers he is probably a bit better than most. Should the tongue strap ensure he settles here it's difficult to see two finishing ahead of him.
15:40 - With several returning from absences, making their debut over fences or both, we're thin on options in this novice handicap besides favourite Barton Stacey. He's won three of four over the summer and, though the other was an unmitigated flop, he offers the best option here.
16:15 - There's no easy way through low-grade handicaps like this. Our best options are Kayalar, who is dropping quite markedly in trip but had been promising a return to form, and Bulletproof, whose failings were obvious to anyone who saw him crash through the wings of the last at Fontwell in August. He's generally an interesting sort at this level, however.
16:50 - Powerful Action is inescapable, the insinuation he's well handicapped all the stronger to look at his bumper form. Taroum will carry less of the pool and looks a solid option in reserve. He's fit, on a slipping mark which at this rate will soon meet with his slowly-improving fortunes.
