There's racing at Chelmsford this evening and that's where we head for Thursday's attempt at the Placepot...
17:35- Masipa hinted at ability when finishing fifth on debut at Lingfield in August and looks capable of better with that experience under her belt. She's the first horse we'll include in the Placepot. We'll also add Legal Art as she improved on her debut effort to finish runner-up last time and should give another good account.
18:10- With three places on offer we'll bank on Goldmadchen as she bounced back to form when easily winning at Wolverhampton last time and looks well treated under a penalty. She wouldn't necessarily have to run to her very best to take this, such is her superiority on these terms.
18:40- Packed House finished a good third on handicap debut at Kempton last time, shaping well having been left with too much to do, and she holds strong claims in this contest based on that form. A lightly-raced type, she's open to improvement and should be included in the permutation. We'll also include First Dream as he's well bred, in good hands and should appreciate the step back up in trip.
19:10- Last-time-out winners Forceful Appeal and Tatting are the pair to concentrate on from a Placepot perspective, both arriving in good form having scored over C&D last time. Forceful Appeal had hinted that a revival was on the cards when finishing third at Lingfield, and he duly showed himself as good as ever when quickening well to win here. He's still on a fair mark and holds excellent claims. Tatting had dropped to an interesting mark following a few below-par efforts, and he still looks fairly treated despite a small rise for his recent narrow win.
19:40- Flashman was seen to best effect under an excellent front-running ride here last time and a 5 lb rise requires more. He is clearly in good form, however, and should launch another bold bid under George Baker, so makes plenty of appeal from a Placepot perspective.
20:10- Mishaal is operating at the top of his game at present, arriving here on the back of a career-best third at Lingfield, and he looks to hold a good chance on form. This is a competitive contest, though, so we'll also include Trojan Rocket as he completed the hat-trick when winning over C&D last month and he should continue to give his running, for all his new mark makes things more difficult.
