Chelmsford City stage racing on this evening and that's where we head for Thursday's attempt at the Placepot...
17:10- The lightly-raced Falconize sets a narrow standard in the opener and, with further improvement forthcoming, should prove tough to beat. Falconize shaped well at Kempton last time, keeping on well in the style of a horse that will prove well suited by the step up to a mile, and she can do better yet.
17:40- Godolphin's Winter Queen was turned over at a short price last time, but the muddling nature of the race wouldn't have played to her strengths, and she should be given another chance having looked well handicapped when winning at Kempton and Wolverhampton last year. The suspicion is that she remains on a good mark, and she can prove it this evening.
18:10- Jazri finished behind the reopposing Third Strike at Kempton last time but he deserves extra credit as he wasn't ideally placed to make his effort, and he looks well handicapped based on his previous form. Jazri's likely to be carrying fewer lines than Third Strike so makes plenty of appeal from a Placepot perspective. We will also include Officer In Command as he improved on recent efforts to win at Wolverhampton, taking advantage of a much-reduced mark, and he remains of interest from a handicapping perspective.
18:40- This is competitive stuff, and progressing will not be easy, so we'll need to go in mob-handed. Oriental Relation is on a long losing run at present, and he was below form last time, but his trainer is going well and he's back in a lower grade, so can't be ruled out from this fair-looking mark. Mops Angel also represents a stable in searing form and she should prove competitive based on the pick of her efforts, while Evident is relatively unexposed as a sprinter and has to be given a big chance if you can forgive a disappointing effort last time.
19:10- Vosnee Romanee was such an impressive winner at Wolverhampton last time and, though this is undoubtedly tougher, he should be able to take this step up in class in his stride. Vosnee Romanee hasn't been with the excellent Dr Richard Newland for long, and is completely unexposed as a stayer, so he could yet improve plenty. We'll bank on Vosnee Romanee going close.
19:40- Maggie Pink has been running well in defeat of late and she comes here on the back of an excellent second over C&D. She ran just about as well as could have been expected on that occasion, shaping as if she's in top form, and she should launch a bold bid under optimum conditions.
