We look to Bath's Monday card in our attempt to start the working week with a Placepot win...
"There's only one horse to be with in this five-furlong maiden and that’s Sleep Walk who has an outstanding pedigree; she's related to Bated Breath and Cityscape who’ve done so well for this yard..."
13:30 - Our first leg of the week is a handicap over a mile in which Encore Encore is the first to get the nod for Harry Dunlop. He's taken to bounce back from his handicap bow at Kempton now he's back to a suitable trip and build on the promise he hinted at in maidens last season. The other to get the nod is Classic Mission, who looked promising on his third start in a maiden at Goodwood in September; he's been allotted a fair opening mark and should have improved over the winter.
14:00 - It's a five-furlong under consideration next and Dishy Guru looked to have a fair bit in hand when he won at Lingfield last time. That was his second win in three starts and although he has an 8 lb rise to contend with now back on turf, it may not be enough to stop him if he turns up in the same mood. Island Legend is another who seems likely to run well on the back of a solid effort at Kempton last time and is off a very workable mark.
14:30 - Any market support for the Richard Hannon debutant Doomah will be ominous in the fillies' maiden which follows, but the first of our selections is Mylaporyours who was hampered at a crucial stage when well-supported on her debut at Windsor. She shaped better than the result suggested and looks sure to improve. Red Perdita is the other to make the cut; she's related to the smart performer Heaven's Guest and initial market support is a significant positive.
15:00 -It's the second five-furlong handicap of the day up next and it seems prudent to keep the progressive Desert Command on side. He made good progress in sprint handicaps last year and with the distinct possibility of more to come as a four-year-old he could prove hard to beat. Alcando is the other to get the nod who was a C&D winner as a juvenile and resumes today off a career-low mark.
15:30 - There's only one horse to be with in this five-furlong maiden and that's Sleep Walk who has an outstanding pedigree, related to Bated Breath and Cityscape who've done so well for this yard. It looks a weak maiden and it would be disappointing if she did not win comfortably.
16:00 - We rely on a sole selection in the final leg of today's perm too in the shape of Angus Glens who has yet to put in a bad run in his seven starts to date and lines up off a career-low mark this afternoon.
