With the big one on the horizon, Carl is taking it easy today...
I plan to take it easy today and get stuck into the Royal Ascot form ahead of Tuesday when it all kicks off.
I have just one bet today in what is the best race of the day at Salisbury (3.40). Despite a good prize on offer, a field of just six has been attracted to the Cathedral Stakes, but what the race lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality.
Palace Moon is a half-brother to Group One winner Sakhee's Secret and can take this listed prize en-route to the July Cup. He won easily at Doncaster in March by five lengths on his handicap debut. The handicapper decided that a 15lb rise in the ratings was warranted so Hughie Morrison has stepped him into pattern company. With the expected further improvement I will back Palace Moon to win today.
Morrison has a strong hand in the sprint division and can take this prize ahead of Mike De Kock's Diana's Choice.
Just one bet today but it should be a good one.
3.40 Salisbury - Palace Moon - win @ [2.0]
