Daily Racing Tips: It's the quiet before the Epsom storm so Carl is keeping bets to a minimum

There's just the one bet today but Carl Harris is confident it's a good'un.

Monaadema drifted like its leg had fallen off yesterday from odds-on to odds-against but ran out a good winner for us. With Epsom coming up, it was a pretty quiet day but I became a member of the William Buick fan club after seeing his ride on Hada Man at Folkestone, this lad is one to follow for the future.

With all eyes on the Derby and the Oaks, it's another low key day again. I have backed Fame and Glory ante-post who will, it was announced yesterday, be partnered by Seamus Heffernan. Johnny Murtagh has sided with Rip Van Winkle who I cannot see winning. I take comfort in the fact that Murtagh was on the wrong horse in the Dante at York and the Chester Vase so I would advise Fame and Glory backers not to worry too much.

Friday and Saturday will be like cheese to today's chalk. There really is not very much to get excited about. Having gone through the cards several times I have only one strong bet, which is at Ripon tonight. Bobbie Soxer (7.40) was a good winner at Leicester under Eddie Ahern and though victorious by nearly four lengths I thought there was much more in reserve, a view which it seems is also held by her trainer John Dunlop who runs the three-year-old under a penalty. The six furlongs at Ripon will be a stiffer test than at Leicester but should pose no problems for this well-bred in-form filly from a stable which is starting to hit form.

Bobbie Soxer is my only bet of the day.

Todays Bet...
7.40 Ripon - Bobbie Soxer - win @ [2.48]
