Daily Racing Tips: Carl is looking to follow up on Monday's three-timer...

It was three from three for our new tipster on Monday. Who will the selections be today?

That is what I love about Betfair, Everaard was second (past the post) at Warwick but the conduct of Bob Stock amounted to GBH and I was able to lay off my bet at [1.14] to forget about the stewards' enquiry. Everaard was duly awarded the race completing a nice treble for us, which was very pleasing, not least because I was wondering if I had been cursed since kicking off this column. Thankfully though it would appear not!

There is some really good racing this week with Chester taking centre stage. Today offers much more low key fare with good bets, at backable prices at least, thin on the ground.

Tony McCoy looks assured of a winner at Fakenham aboard No Panic, but with no meaningful opposition he is a prohibitive price. McCoy rides Treaty Flyer (2.20) for Alison Thorpe in the first race, who trotted up in a better race at Ludlow last Sunday. That was on good to firm ground which will be encountered today and with McCoy onboard this looks a gilt edged opportunity for a quick double. Treaty Flyer should win this modest selling contest and get us off to a flyer for the day.

Royal Dignitary (3.00) at Southwell ticks all the right boxes and should really win this all-weather claimer with the minimum of fuss. Dandy Nicholls ran this one in a handicap last time won by Forgotten Voice at Kempton, and we know how good that one is! Dropping back into claiming company the nine-year-old has a very good record at Southwell and should outclass his eight rivals.

I would expect Royal Dignitary to be very well supported and I advise taking an early price. He really does look an exceptional bet and I make him my bet of the day.

I am looking forward to Chester and the week ahead and I am sure we will have a bigger bank to play with after today.

Todays Bets...

2.20 Fakenham - Treaty Flyer (Win)

3.00 Southwell - Royal Dignitary (Win) - Bet of the day

Thanks for the comments. I am glad to be back to form after a slow start.

    Terry.
Thank you for the comment and for taking time to read my column.

Bit of a poor start but as I write this I hope you agree I have made up for that slow start, with 5 straight winners.

Let me assure you I had a significant bet on both of Sunday's selections. In terms of Radiohead it was one that the dogs were barking about, and it was no secret, as you saw by the weight of money that came for the horse. It was also well publicised in other quarters and I never claimed to have any stable contacts. I assure you that I always give my advice in good faith and am in the business of backing winners. I would never and have never enter into any of the type of practices that you have mentioned. I was quite surprised to see the post and wonder why you thought this to be the case?

I can see why you were disappointed with Radiohead. I was! Radiohead was in fact a close second and probably had it been ridden closer to the pace then it might have won. Its tough for a 2yo to make up that much up the hill on his first start. The reality is that not every bet I advise will win, I wish they would! Let me assure you that I give information and write this column in good faith. I do not ride the horses I pick and have to endure the same woes as other punters when things go against us.

    Regards

    Carl
