Daily Racing Multiple: Rose and Russell to bloom for Sunday double at Ayr

Can Alan find two winners at Ayr on Sunday?

Alan Dudman had a 3.17 winner yesterday with Tommy's Oscar, but Bollingerandkrug failed to sparkle for the double. Our multiple man stays in Scotland for his two horses running on Sunday...

"I am quite surprised he isn't favourite. The soft conditions will suit him, and he gave a strong indication he was a useful stayer in the mud winning over 2m6f at Newcastle as a novice hurdler."

What a fine performance from Tommy's Oscar yesterday, a run that really marked him down as a horse who could make an impact at a higher level. We couldn't quite land the double again with Lucinda Russell's Bollingerandkrug, but hopefully the yard can kick us off in our quest for the first multiple of the year in Rowdy Rustler.

We've had three individual winners in three days, so it would be nice to convert another.

The 13:20 Maiden Hurdle sees her have two representatives, but Netywell has to improve a fair bit from last time, so preference is for the double'R'.

He ran a fair race behind the smart Bill Baxter on debut over 2m4f, but he looked a non-stayer as he appeared to empty in the closing stages.

An improvement came dropped down to the bare minimum at Kelso last time in soft conditions, and he looked as though he came on from the Ayr run following wind surgery. The form of his effort at the Borders venue has been franked with the third winning since, and the winner placing yesterday. He traded 2.021/1 in defeat there, and he can go one better.

Rose's chaser can be a thorn in the side of fav

A tight little 3m handicap over the fences awaits to close out Sunday's card on the west coast and while three hold last-time wins, I am hoping one of them in Rath An Luir can maintain his 100% record chasing.

Rose Dobbin's rookie chaser landed the odds in November with victory in Carlisle's Gordon Richards Novice, a 0-135, in pleasing fashion. His stamina really came to the fore in the heavy conditions that day with a nice round of jumping. The form of that looks warm, with Dan Skelton's Alnadam running into a place in the big handicap at Cheltenham yesterday off a mark in the 140s, and the third (well beaten 10L) Minella Trump has won about a million races since then.

He bettered that form visually with a 10L demolition job next time at the same track with a quality performance in a strongly-run race He was upped to 3m on that occasion and stayed ever so strongly. Such was the appeal of that performance, a rise to 135 might still leave him well treated as he looks capable of going quite high.

I am quite surprised he isn't favourite. The soft conditions will suit him, and he gave a strong indication he was a useful stayer in the mud winning over 2m6f at Newcastle as a novice hurdler.

A costly fee was fetched for him at the sales at £100,000 and bought as a store, but he's in the right hands with Dobbin who can excel with these young chasers. She's 3-14 at Ayr this term and hopefully she can add to that tally.
