Daily Racing Multiple: No harm in asking for a Tuesday double with Gosden and O'Neill

Trainer John Gosden rolls the Southwell dice on Tuesday night

Alan Dudman found a 4/1 winner with Diamond State yesterday but missed out on the double with a second. His Tuesday 24/1 multiple goes across Uttoxeter and Southwell...

"At a cost of 310,000 guineas as a yearling, it's hardly a left-field selection, but it's more to do with the 4/7 favourite Yantarni - who looked a bit of an awkward customer last time."

Jonjo's youngster can improve again

Back Anyharminasking @ 11/4 in the 15:30 at Uttoxeter

We had a nice winner courtesy of young Conner McCann yesterday at 5.14/1, although our second selection finished runner-up to miss out on the double. It wasn't a narrow second as I cannot grumble with a 41L defeat.

Tuesday's first leg of the double goes at Uttoxeter and Jonjo O'Neill's Anyharminasking is taken to beat the favourite.

He shaped well on his first start in a Uttoxeter novice on good ground and ran a better race last time at Worcester on a slightly softer surface behind Mot A Mot - a horse who had some smart bumper form.

The selection wasn't short of speed and hopefully he'll be forwardly ridden again this afternoon. The trainer is 4-17 in the last two weeks and he can improve on his rating of 118 in this maiden hurdle.

Nazca can zoom in for Johnny G

The new Tapeta surface has attracted the big guns from Newmarket to Southwell, and while the Fibresand will be much missed by me as it gave punters an angle if you knew your sires that acted around there, I am looking forward to seeing John Gosden's newcomer Nazca.

At a cost of 310,000 guineas as a yearling, it's hardly a left-field selection, but it's more to do with the 4/7 favourite Yantarni - who looked a bit of an awkward customer last time.

He certainly has an immaculate pedigree, but he blew the start and reared at Wolverhampton, and while he was taken on for the lead, he never looked comfortable in the race and was easily picked off by a Gosden newcomer that evening. He may of course win it, but there was something in that performance I didn't like.

Nazca's sire Oasis Dream only has an 11% strike-rate on the Tapeta, and he wears cheekpieces for his debut, but the 11/2 price is tempting. The selection's dam Pure Line acted around Wolverhampton so hopefully the newcomer will take to the surface.
